About the People Behind Find Your Lost Pets
We love animals
We've shared our lives with cats, dogs, and everything in between. That love is where this project comes from; not from a business plan, but from knowing firsthand what the people who need this tool are going through. Every pet on our team has taught us something. Some of them are still teaching us, even now that they're gone.
We lost our girl, too
When our girl went missing, we did what every panicked pet owner does: we ran in every direction at once. We walked the streets calling for her, checked every found pet board we could find, knocked on doors. All of us, together, searching.
But in between, there were forms to fill, posts to write, shelters to call. Each one wanted the same information. Each one required us to say it again, type again and again: she's missing. She's out there. Please help. The repetition wasn't just exhausting, but every time we typed it, we felt it again fresh.
We didn't know what tools were available. We'd never heard of most of the databases that exist specifically for lost pets. We weren't registered on them, which meant our girl wasn't findable through them — not because we didn't care, but because nobody had ever told us they existed.
And making her poster. Sitting down to do that, looking at her photo, choosing which one showed her best so a stranger might recognize her. That was one of the hardest things we've done.
"We never found her. This is our way of hoping you can find yours."
When you need this tool, it's here for you
FindYourLostPets is a nonprofit project, personally funded, built because the problem deserved a real solution. It's not an app trying to monetize your worst day. We're not a bot. We don't post on your behalf. What we do is make sure that when you need to reach every channel that matters, the work is already done. The right message, formatted for everywhere it needs to go so your attention can stay where it belongs.
You don't need to know what tools exist. You don't need to remember anything except that this one is here. We'll handle the rest.
A small studio making things that matter
FindYourLostPets is a project of Synaptic Workshop, an independent studio building thoughtful tools for real problems. This project is personally funded, ad-free, and will always be free to use for anyone in crisis.
If you'd like to support the work, the best thing you can do is share this with someone who might need it. You can also explore our other projects, because every one of them helps keep work like this possible.
